Experience specifying, purchasing, and configuring multi-protocol LAN’s, WAN's, Intranets, and workstation hardware and software. This includes the following:

WAN hardware required in utilizing dedicated lines, frame relay, and ISDN (routers, FRADs, CSU/DSUs, ISDN terminal adapters, and MUXs from leading hardware vendors such as Cisco, Ascend, Verilink, and AT&T)

Hardware and software required to implement TCP/IP Intranet support services including DNS/DHCP servers, WINS servers, Internet standard email, Web servers, listservers, NNTP, Internetworking/Internet security, and workstation configuration

Desktop computer hardware and software in multi-protocol WAN environments for the Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51 & 4.0, Sun Solaris (and other UNIX platforms), DEC OpenVMS, and MacOS platforms

Experience provisioning circuits, interfacing with nationwide LEC and IXC personnel including expertise with the following:

Interfacing with nationwide LEC and IXC personnel for circuit procurement, turn-up, testing, and trouble shooting

Determining available data services in a given area and identifying the best overall bandwidth value for a given application

Determining software bandwidth requirements, future growth, and management and reliability issues

Integrating voice and data services such as:

Channelized T1/Fractional T1 carrying voice, WAN, and Internet traffic voice over frame relay

Experience configuring and managing commercial Internet firewall software/hardware and TCP/IP WAN Intranet security. This includes expertise with the following:

Internet security measures including: packet filtering, anti-spoofing measures, complex router access-lists, encryption, electronic commerce, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) tunnels

Commercial Firewall hardware/software (Raptor Eagle NT, Ascend SecureAccess, Cisco PIX, and DEC AltaVista Firewall)

Experience with Internet and intranet telecommunications connectivity with T1, ISDN and Frame Relay. This includes expertise in the specification, procurement, and configuration of routers, FRADs, CSU/DSUs, modems, and terminal adapters

Experience in ongoing facility management and support for WAN’s including expertise with the following:

LAN/WAN management/support tools such as Hewlett Packard’s OpenView, Cisco View, and custom programming approaches

Sniffers/analyzers and network simulation tools from leading vendors such as Network General and Cisco

Implementation and use of trouble ticket procedures and systems

Multiple technical staff with advanced degrees in computer science (Texas A&M University <http://www.tamu.edu>; all in the 90's)

A certified Siemon <http://www.siemon.com> cabling architect on staff
